Overall Rating:
Mythology is a compilation of Greek and Norse mythology composed of legends and tales of Gods, heroes, love, and epic adventures. Here, Edith Hamilton uses and blends the poetic stories by the original Greek and Norse author and her short-and- simple interpretations so that it may appeal to amateur and advanced readers alike. One major part of the mythology and culture of the Greek and Norse was that they portrayed their gods in their image as humans, and with the same traits and emotions. They used these gods and their deeds to explain natural occurrences around them, like the sunrise and the four seasons.

I recommend this to all the readers who either want to explore Greek and Norse mythology or who want to once again rekindle their love for mythology in the past like me. And, since it has a good balance of simplicity and poetry, almost anyone can understand and appreciate this work of a literary genius.

Considering the books that I’ve read in the past about Greek mythology, this book has, by far, been the best. It appeals to me as a fan of Greek mythology because it uses also poems to describe some characters and tell the story. It also has various tales and legends that I’ve not seen in other compilations similar to it because of the book’s focus on artistic beauty and symbology rather that a normal compilation. As in other books about mythology, what intrigued me most was the creative and artistic views of the Greeks about the things around them, like nature, animals or-even the stars. To all the readers that are curious about mythology; or maybe long-time fans, this book is a must-buy.
