What are Periodicals?

Periodicals are continuous publications such as journals, newspapers, or magazines. They are issued regularly (daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly).

Finding Periodical Articles

Vertical Files contain newspaper article clippings arranged by specific topics. [ List of Topics ]
Periodical Indexes can be used to search for citations of periodical articles. The citations can be used to search for the article in the Periodicals Section of the library.
A citation is a reference to a published article and usually provides:
  • the title of the article
  • the name of the author or authors
  • the title, volume and issue number of the periodical in which the article appears
  • the date of publication
  • the page numbers on which the article appears
» Computerized Index to Philippine Periodical Articles (CIPPA) is a web-based index to articles from newspapers, magazines and journals published in the Philippines.
» Index to Philippine Periodicals (IPP) consists of subject and author entries to articles from periodicals published in the Philippines. It is published annually in print format and each volume will contain citations to articles published in a particular year. IPP can be found in the Bound Periodicals Collection.
» IPP on CD-ROM (1995-2005) is made available through the Local Periodicals Index (LPI) which can be accessed through the EMC Website. Use LPI to search for citations to articles which can be found in our Bound Periodicals section.
